Staying at Camping Le Diamant Vert

Camping Le Diamant Vert is a practical base for visiting Fes with your own vehicle. The site is spacious and lies near the Fes stadium, on the Route de Sefrou, around 20 minutes from the old city. Be realistic about what you are booking: our notes describe it as in need of renovation, and the modest rating above reflects that. What it offers is room to park and easy access to one of the great medinas of the Arab world, without having to take a motorhome anywhere near its narrow streets.

Getting there

The campsite is about 5 km in a straight line from central Fes, on the southern side of the city along the road to Sefrou. Use the GPS coordinates on this page and try to arrive in daylight, as city traffic can be heavy at peak times. You will find the layout of the city on our map of Fes, and general advice in our guide to driving in Morocco.

What to expect on site

This page lists electricity, restrooms, showers, drinking water and a waste point. There is no restaurant or swimming pool listed, so stock up before you arrive. Given the state of the site, check the shower block and power supply when you get there, before you commit to several nights.

Climate and the best time to come

Fes is hot in high summer and can be chilly at night in winter, which matters more in a tent or van than in a hotel. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for walking the medina. Our Fes weather page has the month-by-month figures.

Around the campsite

The medina is the reason to be here: read our Fes city guide first, then look at day trips from Fes for excursions further afield. A taxi is usually simpler than moving your vehicle; see taxis in Morocco for how they work. If you would rather sleep inside the city, compare our advice on where to stay in Fes.

Practical tips

Leave nothing of value on show when you go into the city, confirm the night rate at reception before you settle in, and keep small notes for taxis. Reviews from recent guests are particularly useful for a site like this one, so please add yours below.
