Morocco in February: Weather, What to Do and Tips
February brings the first hint of spring: almond trees blossom pink across the southern valleys, the coast is sunny, the Atlas still holds snow, and the country stays wonderfully uncrowded. It is a beautiful, quiet time to travel - note that Ramadan can fall in late February in some years.
The Weather in February
| Region | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Marrakesh & inland cities | Sunny cool 18-21 by day, cold nights |
| Southern valleys (Draa, Dades) | Almond blossom season - pink orchards, mild days |
| The Sahara (Merzouga) | Sunny ~20 days, cold nights - still great for the desert |
| Atlas mountains | Snow and skiing continues |
| Atlantic coast (Agadir) | Warm winter sun, 20-23 |
What to Do in February
- See the almond blossom in the southern valleys
- Combine winter sun in Agadir with a desert trip
- Quiet city sightseeing in Marrakesh and Fes
- Ski in the morning, warm valley in the afternoon
Events and Crowds
February is low season and excellent value, apart from a bump around Valentine's. If your trip overlaps Ramadan, adjust for daytime rhythms.
Warm days, cold nights - layer up, and bring a jacket for the desert and mountains. The pink almond blossom is February's special reward.
