Morocco in 2 Weeks: the Grand Tour

Two weeks lets you do what shorter trips cannot: the full loop - imperial cities, the blue town, the desert AND the ocean, without a single brutal driving day. This is the route we would give a friend.

Transport

  • Mixed formula (recommended): trains and CTM buses for the north (fast, cheap, comfortable - the Al Boraq high-speed train covers Tangier - Casablanca in about 2h10), then a 3-day desert tour or rental car for the Fes - Merzouga - Marrakesh leg.
  • Full self-drive: total freedom; pick the car up in Fes and drop it in Marrakesh - see our car rental guide.

When and How Much

  • Best months: March - May and September - November; December - February works with layers (see Morocco in December).
  • Budget: comfortable mid-range runs roughly 800 - 1,200 Dhs per person per day all-in; details in our price guide.
  • Shorter? Use the 10-day version or the 7-day loop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 2 weeks too long for Morocco?

Not remotely - two weeks covers the four faces of Morocco (cities, mountains, desert, coast) at a pace that leaves room for mint tea. Most travelers wish they had a third week.

Should I book everything in advance?

Book the first nights, the desert camp and festival-period stays ahead; the rest can stay flexible outside Christmas - New Year and Easter.
