Staying at Camping International Safi
Camping International Safi is a pleasant stop on the Atlantic road between El Jadida and Essaouira. It stands away from the city centre but close to the fishing port, and has what most travellers need for a night or two. Guests single out the friendly staff and the clean restaurant, which is known for its delicious tagines. Safi receives far fewer visitors than its neighbours along the coast, and that is a good part of its charm.
Getting there
The campsite is about 2 km in a straight line from central Safi, towards the northern side of the city and the port. Enter the GPS coordinates shown on this page rather than following the town signs, and check conditions before driving the coast road after dark. For a wider view of your route, download our free road map of Morocco and read our guide to driving in Morocco.
What to expect on site
This page lists electricity, restrooms, showers, drinking water, a waste point, a restaurant and internet access. That is a complete set for a town campsite. Equipment and opening hours may vary out of season, so call ahead on the number shown above if you plan to arrive late or to depend on the restaurant.
Climate and the best time to come
The Atlantic keeps Safi milder than inland Morocco, and sea breezes take the edge off the summer heat. Nights can feel damp near the coast, so bring a warm layer even in a mild month. Winter is the wettest period, while spring and autumn are comfortable for a road trip along this shore.
Around the campsite
Safi is best known for its pottery and its fishing port, which is within easy reach of the site. South along the coast, you can continue to Essaouira, whose weather page gives a good idea of conditions on this stretch of the Atlantic. Our guide to camping in Morocco lists other stops along the way.
Practical tips
Try the restaurant at least once, since it is the site's best-known feature, and ask the staff about the local markets. Confirm rates at reception, as they are not listed on this page. If you have stayed here recently, please leave a review below to help other travellers plan their route.
