Fes Festival of World Sacred Music

Founded in 1994, the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music is the most refined of Morocco's great festivals: Sufi chants, gospel, Andalusian orchestras, Persian and Indian classical music - every spiritual tradition welcomed in the courtyards and gardens of the world's best-preserved medieval city.

The 2026 Edition

The 29th edition ran June 4 - 7, 2026, themed around the maalemines - the master craftsmen whose hands built the madrasas and palaces of Fes. Concerts filled the monumental Bab Al Makina esplanade, the Jnan Sbil gardens and the Batha palace. The 30th anniversary edition is expected in late spring 2027.

Tickets and Venues

  • Headline concerts at Bab Al Makina are ticketed (several price tiers; passes for the full festival).
  • The free side: the festival traditionally pairs with free popular concerts and the mystical Sufi Nights, held late in garden venues - often the most memorable part.
  • Where to stay: a riad in the medina puts you walking distance from everything - book months ahead for festival week.

Tips

  • Pair afternoon medina exploring (tanneries, Al Batha museum) with evening concerts.
  • June in Fes is hot - see our Fes climate guide and pace yourself.
  • Combine with Meknes and Volubilis, an easy day trip.
