TanJazz: the Tangier Jazz Festival
Since 2000, TanJazz has made Tangier swing every September - big bands, Afro-jazz, soul and late-night jam sessions in palace gardens overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar. It is the most atmospheric city festival in Morocco.
The 2026 Edition: the Comeback
After skipping 2025 to consolidate its partnerships, the festival returns: the 23rd edition runs September 18 - 20, 2026, at the Palais des Institutions Italiennes and the Palais des Arts et de la Culture. Expect the classic TanJazz formula: international headliners on the main stage, club stages into the small hours, and brass bands in the streets of the city center.
Tickets
- Evening passes and 3-day passes go on sale through the official channels (tanjazz.org) and Moroccan ticketing platforms in late summer.
- Street parades and some city-center performances are traditionally free.
Tips
- September is Tangier at its best - warm sea, soft light, and the summer crowds gone.
- Stay near the city center or the Kasbah; both are a short taxi from the festival venues (city map here).
- Make a weekend of it: the American Legation museum, the Kasbah museum and cafe Hafa's mint tea at sunset - or push on to Chefchaouen, two hours away.
